History
Steven Hammer was a lecturer in applied psychology at the University of California at Los Angeles.
Hammer had a keen interest in parapsychology and published several papers on the subject. He conducted several investigations into psychic phenomenon among his students, usually with inconclusive results.
In 2014, he began testing Fred Berkov and found a statistically significant degree of psychic ability. Unfortunately, Berkov was targeted by the K-Men as a potential superhuman. The K-Men's search lead them to Hammer's office, where they were discovered by Hammer. They killed him to prevent him revealing their existence.
The true cause of Hammer's death was never discovered. The police report listed death by unidentified cutting implement. The death was incorrectly attributed to a copy-cat serial killer.
