Disregard my last entry yesterday. Plenty can go wrong in one night.
Lie low, that's all I said. Did I say "find a superstrong mutant"? Did I say "tick off a dangerous bounty hunter"? Did I hell.
While I was in LA seeing Grady and eliminating Fred from his enquiries, the rest of the group were fiddling in some bizarre domestic dispute. Near as I can tell, some park ranger name of Carter has a boy running wild in the woods. Kid has superhuman strength [must find out why he wasn't on my list] and who knows what else. Carter seems to be protecting him, keeping it hushed up.
Anyway, someone in the government wants the kid, so they send Mike Doyle after him. The kids don't know who he is so of course they figure they'll just fight him. Thank God no one got hurt. We sorted the mess out. I called in a favour from Judge Roy and got the warrant overturned [must be careful not to run out of favours]. Doyle won't pursue a commission without paperwork to cover his butt.
James is giving me a headache. Doyle got a good look at him and I can't believe he's going to sit on info like that. Chances of keeping a low profile are diminishing.
Got a mail message from Frank, he's got some kind of problem. I'll try to help him out, hopefully pick his brains about the kids at the same time. Heading for Frank & Carla's in SF, should arrive tomorrow a.m.
Oh yeah, Doc Smithsteen has a new personality (Harry). More on this later.
James is driving. Still keeping his mask on. Looking for a motel where we can smuggle him quietly into a room.
